A letter from Phi Mu’s President
Dear Potential New Members,
Hi, my name is Jessica Schmidt and I’m the chapter president of Phi Mu! I’m so honored to be a part of this group of women who I admire and love so much, and I am so excited for all of you to be stepping into such an exciting time.
If my freshman year self could see me now, she would be surprised at how big of a role joining a sorority has had on my college experience. Coming into recruitment, I had no idea if Greek life was for me, or what joining it honestly meant. Looking back at my time at Elon since then, I can confidently thank Phi Mu for bringing me many of the best people I know, a constant support system, and so many of my favorite college memories.
This community has given me role models, not only in members who hold leadership positions, but within every corner of our chapter. I look to these women as examples of how I want to treat others and how I can positively impact the community around me. Phi Mu has given me a space to connect with those who I may have never otherwise crossed paths with, and has pushed and supported me to grow as a person and a leader.
Being the president of this chapter is an honor because I get to see firsthand the way our community shows up for each other day in and out. I am so grateful for Phi Mu, and the entire Panhellenic community, for creating spaces away from home where we can be ourselves, feel supported, and be pushed to be the best versions of who we are. I am so proud to be a part of this sisterhood, and I hope for all of you to find a community here that makes you feel the same.
Love In Our Bonds, Jessica Schmidt
